Lamborghini recalls 26 Aventador SVJ cars due to a possible failure of the internal door handles. The problem was discovered during the planned quality control: it turned out that the assembler mistakenly fixed the handle cables, which could lead to breakage and the inability to open the doors from the inside.
This problem affected supercars intended for the US market, released in December last year and this January. Failure of the door opening mechanism can pose a real threat to the health of supercar owners in an emergency. However, the problem concerns only the internal door handles, so if necessary the driver and passenger of the Aventador SVJ can lower the window and unlock the door from the outside.
The Lamborghini recall campaign will begin on May 1, 2020. American dealers of the Italian company will contact the owners of faulty supercars and ask them to drive their cars to the service to fix the problem. Lamborghini has revised the process of assembling new supercars, so the malfunction will not happen again.
Aventador SVJ is a limited version of the supercar, which is the fastest production Lamborghini. Under the hood, an atmospheric 6.5-liter V12 power unit is boosted to 770 horsepower (720 Nm of torque). A feature of the model is active aerodynamics. In total, they plan to release 963 coupes and 863 Aventador SVJ roadsters.
