Porsche is developing a simplified version of the electric Porsche Taycan. The car will lose the all-wheel drive and get a less capacious battery.
Michael Steiner, head of research and development at Porsche, said that the company was currently working on a more affordable version of the electric car. According to him, the price would be reduced by simplifying the power unit and battery.
Perhaps the car in the basic configuration will lose its all-wheel drive – now it is being implemented through the use of 2 electric motors, however, it will be possible to refuse one of them in a new modification
Steiner also said that according to the plan, the model will be presented in 2021. But it will be sold in those automotive markets where mono-drive models are in demand – in the first place, we are talking about the Chinese market.
To date, the most affordable version is a modification of the Taycan 4S. It is equipped with a 530-horsepower electric power unit, and the cruising range reaches 407 kilometers.
