Porsche will print seats on a 3D printer

Porsche has developed seats using parts printed on a 3D printer. For the first time, such a technology was tested on a bucket chair – on Porsche sports cars.

The central part of the cushion and backrest is partially made by the volumetric printing of structural materials (polyurethane). The external upholstery of the chair is made of Racetex material with large perforations. Special openings in the seat allow you to see colored parts printed on a 3D printer.

New materials allow you to choose one of 3 levels of rigidity. In addition, any color of the interior of the seats is available. Modern Porsche does not currently have this kind of personalization.

Тhe first batch of 40 seats printed on a 3D printer with six-pointed seat belts will be prepared by May 2020. They will be offered to owners of the Porsche 718 and Porsche 911 racing coupes participating in the European Championships. After collecting feedback and improvements, somewhere from the middle of next year, the new seats will go on sale and will be installed on Porsche road models.
